feb 2010... There are so many great exhibitions and opportunites to prepare for and the studio is busy. I have been working on one particular project for months... a comission for a simple teapot... Although I make teapots as part of my production line... this is a korean style teapot... for some reason to get every component to work correctly together is elusive...

I have made some water stones for the Herring Island "Oasis" Exhibition - Starts Saturday and runs over the following two weeks. This has to be one of the most fun things to do in Melbourne each summer. Only accessible by punt (just a touch 'wind in the willows'). Wonderful sculpture in a natural environment... in the middle of the City.

End of summer and time to get busy with this exhibition. Things are taking shape... working with decals has potential...

.............

Summer is finally here and
as the end of the year
approaches I'm thinking
of lazy days at the beach!
So I've come up with some fresh designs to go with the mood.

.............

Fast forward through winter .......

It's August and it's great to be in the studio. I got a bit side tracked with work. I also spent some time working with decals with varying results. But I'm definitely back in production mode with a new range of porcelain bottles.
.............

We're flying through May. Studio is getting a bit chilly. I found some little frogs living in my reclaimed clay bins outside! I moved them on though.
Still working on the molds for light housings and experimenting with joined forms... double walled bowls... ....................

Well... april was spend working on porcelain bottles and other objects. They featured at the hotbeam stand at Designex 08 in Sydney. I've also been working on coloring my base glaze with a range of stains.

The rest of my studio time has been working on multi-part molds for slip casting. These are to create housing for light fittings. I'm experimenting with cool-casting slip which looks promising. Creating a production process for a comercial product is very different from making one-off objects or sets.
